Commissioner’s visit to Gozo

Published 04 Nov 2021
Persons with disability and their families living in Gozo experience a double challenge since they form part of two minorities: we must ensure that services offered in our country are also offered in Gozo. Just as one cannot draft an inclusive policy without the representation of persons with disability, in the same way, we cannot take decisions on Gozo without including the Gozitans. This was stated by CRPD Commissioner Samantha Pace Gasan after a visit to various entities which offer services for persons with disability, including those managed by Aġenzija Sapport within the Ministry for Inclusion and Social Wellbeing, the Gozo Ministry and Fondazzjoni Arka. The disability sector in Gozo will be given priority by the Commission as part of the strategy which will inform CRPD’s work in the coming years.
